Member Spotlight - Beth Vriesen

Hello Cvent Community,

We're excited to announce that we've launched our Community blog! Some of our first blog posts will include a new Community Member Spotlight series. The purpose of the series will be to highlight and acknowledge stand-out individuals within Community. The idea is that these Cvent users will be able to provide some insight and perspective around their roles, industries, and how they use Cvent. Our team will be hand-picking these individuals based on their Community involvement and Cvent expertise.

With that said, our very first member spotlight features... (insert drumroll sound effect)

        @Beth Vriesen

You can find Beth on LinkedIn here: https://www.linkedin.com/in/bethvriesen/.

@Kameron Kidd was able to have a chat with Beth and ask her some relatable questions.

Can you share a little about yourself and your background?

I’ve been with Associated Bank for a little over 1 year, but I’ve been in the Hospitality industry for over 20 years. Currently, I support our meeting and events team within the Marketing department. My main role is to oversee the event technology (Cvent) and some of our marketing technology integrations.

How long have you been using Cvent? What Cvent products do you currently use?

I’ve used Cvent for 5+ years. I currently use Meetings Management, Access Portal, Event Registration, Sourcing, Reporting, OnArrival, and Surveys. I also have experience in Budgeting and mobile apps, however, our organization doesn’t currently use them.

Do you have a favorite Community article, discussion thread, or training that you think helped you succeed with Cvent technology? If so, please share the link(s) to those.

While I don’t have anything specific, I appreciate reading through many of the discussion threads. I’ve learned many new “best practices” by understanding how others use Cvent.

Are you Cvent certified? If so, which certifications do you hold?

Yes, Event Management, System Admin, and Hybrid Events.

How have you helped others within your organization be successful with Cvent technology?

Within the organization, I have encouraged others to learn how to make minor attendee edits, find registration numbers and become comfortable pulling their own reports. When you allow a planner to be autonomous for some tasks, they feel more empowered to familiarize themselves with the data. Cvent can be overwhelming to someone that doesn’t use it every day. I challenge new users to just learn it in smaller chunks.

For those who are just starting with Cvent, what advice would you share with them?

Learn a few things at a time. If the primary reason you have Cvent is Event Registration and Attendee Management focus on learning those modules, and then grow into the other modules when you feel comfortable with those. Use the Community and Support chat. They are both very knowledgeable in their own ways.

What motivates you to contribute so much of your time and knowledge to Cvent Community?

I learn best from others and like to share my knowledge as well. It’s great to get perspectives from others who may do things differently than you or offer advice on how to improve a process.

What is your favorite Cvent feature and why?

Event Management because it’s what I use most, and am most comfortable with and can share with others.

Here are some recent conversations where Beth was a great contributor to the discussion and provided Best Answers:

Huge thanks to Beth for her time and contributions to the Community. We're looking forward to seeing what you can accomplish in 2023! As a small token of appreciation, Beth will receive a Cvent care package.

Hi @Beth Vriesen , thank you for sitting down with the community team to share your background and experience.

You hold some impressive certifications. Do those certifications help you train others? Have they played a role in advancing your career in some way?
