Hello Cvent Community,

We are back with our May Member Spotlight. The purpose of this series is to highlight and acknowledge stand-out individuals within Community. The idea is that these Cvent users will be able to provide some insight and perspective around their roles, industries, and how they use Cvent. Our team will be hand-picking these individuals based on their Community involvement and Cvent expertise.

With that said, our next Member Spotlight features... (insert drumroll sound effect)

Meet Jennifer

Jennifer is a 20-year event planning professional with trade show and internal meeting experience. She is passionate about sustainability, event technology, and attendee communication management. She enjoys spending lazy weekends cooking, reading, and being in nature when possible.

Jennifer has attained Cvent Celebrity status and she is also a member of the Higher Education User Group.

You can find and connect with Jennifer on LinkedIn here:  www.linkedin.com/in/jenniferjones26

@Kameron Kidd was able to have a chat with Jennifer and ask her some questions.

Can you share a little about the company you work for and your background?

I’ve been working in the Trade Show & Event space for over 20 years, starting out in a support role and working up to a Senior Specialist leading complex, high-visibility events. I work for a Fortune 500 company located in rural Upstate NY that specializes in glass science, ceramics science, and optical physics.

How long have you been using Cvent and what products do you currently use?

I’ve been using Cvent since 2016 when I helped transition my team to using Cvent instead of the registration platform they were using at the time. Of everything Cvent offers, the Event Marketing & Management toolsets has been the most valuable to me. I’ve also relied on the Cvent Supplier Network to find venues and most recently the Vendor Marketplace as well.

Do you have a favorite event or venue that you've been to?

We have a local museum that has some amazing event spaces. I have one internal client that challenges me every year to out do what we did last year for their annual program capstone event. Compared to the more traditional, low-key corporate events and meetings I normally tackle, this capstone event gives me the chance to unleash my creative side to design an entire event experience that attendees still talk about a year later. Do you have a favorite Cvent article or training that you think really helped you be successful with Cvent technology?

My favorite articles are the challenges posted in the All Access Pass area of Cvent Celebrity. From tips & tricks for using Cvent products to webinars to industry trends & whitepapers, the All Access Area really is a one-stop shop for staying in the know and ahead of the curve. There have been so many times when I’ve completed a challenge and then passed along the learning resource related to that challenge to others within my organization.

Are you Cvent certified and if so which certifications do you hold? Do those certifications help you train others? Have they played a role in advancing your career in some way?

I currently have multiple Cvent certifications including Event Management Advanced, Event Marketing Strategy, and Virtual & Hybrid Events. I’d love to work toward getting the Account & System Administrator certifications as well. Having these certifications has helped when training new team members on how we use Cvent in our day-to-day activities.

How have you helped others within your organization be successful with Cvent technology?

I’ve worked with others within my organization to help them understand the platform and how to adapt their current processes to incorporate Cvent into their event management strategy. In addition to the how, I try to challenge them to think about the why: to save time, to make the best use of resources, to provide unique attendee experiences, and to help report success to management.

For those who are just starting with Cvent, what advice would you share with them?

Practice, practice, practice! Go out to the Cvent Community and search. If you don’t find an answer, ask the question in that forum. One of the best ways to learn is from someone who already tried, failed, and then adjusted to get the best result. Odds are, if you have a question someone else has that same question but might be too afraid to ask.

What is your favorite Cvent feature and why?

I’m a huge fan of all of the email features that allow me to easily track and target event communications. I can send a reminder to only those that have not registered, follow up with specific audiences/attendee types, and get metrics on delivery and open information.

Huge thanks to Jennifer for her time and contributions to the Community. We're looking forward to seeing what you can accomplish in 2023! As a small token of appreciation, Jennifer will receive a Cvent care package.
