The Modify Registration widget can be linked to the Sessions widget specifically, but not to a specific session category within the agenda. It will take the attendee to the entire Sessions page/widget. If the goal is to help attendees find specific sessions quickly, you can set the destination to the Sessions Widget and communicate in the button label or surrounding email copy which category they should look for (e.g., "Select Your Breakout Sessions"). Attendees can then use session category filters within the Sessions view to narrow down their options.

Can it be linked to a specific category within sessions? Or will it take the attendee to the entire agenda listings?

Adriana,
We had a product release in May 2026 for Modify Registration Shortcuts in Emails:
You can now add modification shortcuts directly into post-registration emails, routing attendees straight to the specific widget they need to update - no re-entering the full registration flow required. This builds on the existing Modify Registration shortcuts available on post-registration pages, and extends them to email communications so you can proactively prompt attendees to take action right from their inboxes.
Before this release, when you wanted attendees to update a specific part of their registration - like adding sessions after the agenda launched, or filling in travel details - the only option was a generic "manage your registration" link that dropped attendees on the confirmation page, where they had to hunt down the Modify Registration button and step through the entire registration form to update one thing.
Now, you can add a Modify Registration widget directly inside post-registration emails in the Email Designer, and configure exactly which widget destination the button links to. When an attendee clicks the button in their email, they are taken straight to that widget after logging in.
How It Works
A new Modify Registration widget is available in the Email Designer, exclusively for post-registration and post-event emails (not available for pre-event emails).
Configure the widget with:
A note beneath the destination selector reminds planners: "If this destination isn't part of the attendee's registration path, they will be sent to the first page of their assigned path."
When an attendee clicks the email button, they are taken to the Already Registered login screen. Their email address is auto-populated since they are a known invitee, and after entering their confirmation number, they land directly on the configured destination widget, where the attendee can then make their updates and submit their changes in a seamless experience.
I encourage you to submit your product feedback within Participate > Product Ideas if you haven't done so already.

Relying on the standard modification path exposes several major flaw points in Cvent's design:
Forced Multi-Step Checkout: Requiring an already registered attendee to re-run the entire checkout process just to pick a session is fundamentally outdated UX. Attendees expect a 1-click submit, not a full multi-page flow.
Critical Data Loss Risk: After choosing a session, attendees are routed to the final Summary Page. Because this page visually resembles a receipt, a huge percentage of users close the tab without clicking the final "Save/Finish" button-causing their session choices to be completely wiped out.
Rigid Single-Path Limitation: Forcing new and returning registrants into the exact same path is a major bottleneck. Event planners are forced to dilute their messaging and use clunky, neutral button labels (e.g., avoiding "Complete Registration") just so the text makes sense for both audiences.
Static Agenda Widgets: The agenda block on the native Confirmation Page is purely read-only. If Cvent allowed true inline editing directly on the confirmation view without triggering a full re-checkout, none of these workarounds would be necessary.
Cvent urgently needs a lightweight, native inline session-booking tool for existing registrants-one that saves selections instantly without dragging users through a multi-step registration loop. Until that exists, planners are forced to choose between high attendee drop-off rates or using third-party forms with manual data imports. Or is there a realsolution for this problem?

Hi Joe,
No it is not an entirely different registration site, it is all built within the same event in Cvent. If you add the modify registration widget onto the confirmation page in your event, attendees can log back in and modify their registration and add on sessions in the registration process and /or if you are using the Attendee Hub for your event, attendees can also log into Attendee Hub add on sessions within the app or Attendee Hub website. Reference the section "Allowing Invitees to Modify Their Own Registrations" in this article Modifying Registrations for more information.
