Hi Erica,
Could you direct me to the Ideas area of the community where I can submit feedback. I can't seem to find it.
Thank you!
Chris

Hi Chris,
Thank you for your concern. We are always making changes to our product in order to accommodate for the ever changing industry needs. As we evolve our product, our product team also updates features and settings based on new solutions that are implemented. For attendee profile sharing, we have released a lot of new options to be able to connect with others and receive the information you are looking to accomplish with vcards.
As I mentioned to Trina above, the best option is to submit this feedback within the Ideas area of the community as our product team refers to this specifically, as well as gives others an opportunity to upvote it as well.
Thank you again for your feedback. Hope you have a great rest of your day!

Hi Erica,
We find the lack of vCard encoding in the QR codes on CVENT to be a problem.
RegOnline was acquired by CVENT a number of years ago.
When acquired, RegOnline had vCard encoding.
This functionality was transferred over to CVENT and was active through 2019.
For some reason vCard functionality was removed from CVENT between 2020 and 2022.
The only standard encoding that exists now for QRcodes at CVENT is the meCard.
The problem with the meCard is that the address field is parsed with commas instead of semi-colons. If the user is trying to parse the address data to collect street address, city, state, zip, country in separate fields, then if there are any commas entered into any of the address fields, the system "breaks". Specifically, if there is a comma in the strett address field, like "1989 hartford rd, suite 3", this will push everything over one column field, with the country column data being lost. It is possible that if the user put 6 commas in the first field all of the following data would be "lost".
Additionally, the meCard only allows one phone number to be encoded. vCard allows 2 -- this is important when one phone is for "work" and the other is a mobile phone that may be for rapid text communications when onsite at the conference.
The lack of vCard encoding is a glaring deficiency.
It is so glaring that the only reason we can conclude it does not exist is to force people to use the proprietary CVENT lead collection solution (OnArrival).
One other tidbit that some people get caught up on. vCards DO NOT require the data to be stored in the cloud. All of the data can be stored in the encoded QRcode and directly collected via a QRcode scan.
We would really like to see the vCard re-implemented as part of the overall registration platform and conference management solution.
It can be. It should be.
Best,
Chris

Hi Trina,
Thank you for your question! I would recommend submitting this within the Ideas tab in the Community so our product team can have some insight. Unfortunately, there isn't a great alternative to this, however the Speaker Card itself should show all details that a Vcard should show, except for the QR code. Depending on the purpose for the QR code, we have some great options to capture details of not only your speakers but your attendees as well. You can utilize our lead capture service or OnArrival service to scan name badges and capture information that way as well. If you have more questions on this, I would recommend reaching out to your Account Manager for more details.
Thank you!

We would like to provide vCards within our speakers' profiles. Unfortunately, this file type isn't available for upload in the documents or speaker widget areas. Has anyone found a viable alternative? If so, please share the wealth.
Thanks in advance!
