    Hello all,

I'm working on creating attendance certificates for our events and trainings.  I have created a background that matches my organization's branding, but I have not been able to find information about how large to make the file for a landscape 11" x 8.5" certificate.  I originally created the background to be exactly that size but when I select it, it is too small.  Any assistance would be helpful.

    Hello!

When you select the image in the designer, you should have the option to resize it in the properties menu on the left side.  You can resize the image to fit the 8.5" x 11" paper.  A quick Google search is telling me 814px x 1054px is the pixel size of letter paper, but you can tweak it until you're happy with the size of the background image.

    Hope this helps!

The pixel size for an 8.5 x 11 inch image is 2550 x 3300 pixels. This is the standard resolution for good quality printing. For excellent print quality, you can set the resolution to 3400 x 4400 pixels

Fixing that will solve your issue. Let me know if that doesn't work.

    Hi Benjamin!

Chiming in to build on the replies from Jess and Abhisek. In my testing, using a pixel measurement similar to what Jess mentioned lead to the background image filling the canvas in the designer, though I don't see a way to resize it directly when you add it from the background section at the top of the designer. Typically the pixel recommendation for a letter sized piece of paper will actually depend on the DPI (dots per inch) of the image being used (larger for higher DPIs) - so to Abhisek's point, that is a closer recommendation when printing high quality images, however I found it displayed too large as a background image directly in the designer. When you actually print the certificate (like save the PDF), the background will resize to fit the page, so you could kind of combine the two solutions provided, using a smaller pixel count to line things up within the designer then replacing with a larger pixel count for a higher quality image. I personally didn't notice too much of a quality difference when testing different sizes but it can depend on the image being used, so you can definitely test around with it to see what looks best for your image!
