I've recently noticed a growing issue within the registration experience related to the country selection dropdown and wanted to see if others are running into the same thing.
Since an update last year, a significant number of attendees based in the United States are mistakenly selecting "United States of America (Minor Outlying Islands)" instead of the primary U.S. option. This is happening quite frequently and is starting to impact the accuracy of attendee data.
From what I can tell, the confusion stems from how the options are labeled and displayed. The primary country is listed as "USA", while the alternate option is spelled out as "United States of America (Minor Outlying Islands)". When users begin typing "United States…", the only visible match is the Minor Outlying Islands option. Because "United States of America" isn't listed in full as a standalone option, many users assume they've found the correct selection and choose it-especially if they don't think to search for "USA."
This creates a pretty unintuitive experience and leads to avoidable data inaccuracies.
A simple fix would be to update the main country listing from "USA" to "United States of America" so it aligns with user expectations and is easier to find when typing.
Curious if others have seen this as well, and if there are any workarounds in the meantime?
