Hello @David Lowenthal,
We use both Custom Event Fields and Custom Contact Fields.
For our event fields we ask the following 3 questions for our general Cvent analytics.
- Department
- Event Fee Type (we like to know if the department is collecting dentations)
- Ask if they are part of Development/Advancement
For the contact fields we have 72 questions ranging from Class Year, Dietary Restrictions, Accessibility Needs, and UofM specific related questions. For many years we did give event planners access to create questions and it got way out of hand. Back in 2022 as an admin I removed planner access and now custom fields can only be created by an admin. I have been working over the past year to remove duplicates, one-off event questions, and some that don't make any sense to our data collection. Much more work to be done.
What makes the custom fields so powerful is being able to run the Registrant Details Report and have all those registration questions answered at your finger tips.
