To all potential users of Cvent, the sales team will initially guarantee you access to the Chinese market.
It seems that Cvent's payment system (CPS) is failing to meet the needs of users in China, and it's causing significant frustration. While the platform does offer access to the Chinese market with features like live streaming and seamless registration access, the lack of integration with popular Chinese payment options such as Alipay and WeChat Pay is a major flaw.
Most Chinese residents do not use international credit cards or cash, making Alipay and WeChat Pay essential for smooth payment processing. Unfortunately, Cvent's integration with Stripe doesn't support these payment methods, which we only discovered six months before our event. With just three months to go, the absence of these payment options poses a serious risk to registration and revenue, as many of our Chinese delegates may struggle to register for the event.
Cvent suggested using QR codes as a workaround, but this process is manual and inefficient, as we would have to manually match each transaction with individual registrations. This is an incredibly disappointing situation, especially considering how critical these payment methods are for the success of our event. The lack of Alipay/WeChat Pay integration remains unresolved with only three months left until the event.
