Hey, this is not an actual answer to the questions posed. Instead I used it as a brain-storm for Fundraising concepts during an event.
Jigsaw Challenge
Have an image made into a big 8'x8' puzzle with pieces that are approximately 6" . Then either sell pieces of the puzzle, or give them out free at registration but have them pay $5 to place their piece into the puzzle. Or take it out of registration and have a representative at breakfast each day selling the pieces, and a live feed on the screens of the who is placing their pieces and the puzzle coming together. You could even let them choose the piece they are purchasing.
Not so Random Acts of Kindness (for charity!)
Ask everyone to carry $10 in singles throughout the event. Then everyone starts doing random acts of kindness. When someone is the recipient of the kind act, the person who provided the kind act can then ask the recipient for a $1 donation. It's kind of like 'passing it on', with a goal to see who can be the kindest person at the event and have the largest donation.
Trade up for Charity
I also like the one about trading for something bigger and better. Wonder if that could be incorporated into the Not so Random Acts of Kindness. Instead of (or in addition to) doing a kind act, they could offer the person one of their $1 bill in exchange for a $5 bill for the charity.
