When you're setting up this year's recurring event, copying last year's build can seem like the fastest option. But that copy can also bring forward outdated pricing, contacts, emails, and settings that no longer belong.
Community members have a better move: keep the repeatable registration foundation, then adapt the parts that should change. Less rebuilding. Fewer surprises. More time for the work that actually needs your brain.
1. BUILD A CLEAN STARTING LINE
For recurring events, members are choosing templates over cloning live events. The win is control: retain the registration structure, paths, workflows, and core settings, while keeping old dates, pricing, contacts, and one-off details out of the new build.
One smart habit: create a template for each event type, then give it a quick refresh before the next cycle. Your future self will be delighted. Or, at minimum, less annoyed.

2. GIVE EACH AUDIENCE ITS OWN LANE
Sponsors and exhibitors don't need the same questions, options, or communications as general attendees. Members are creating separate registration types and paths for those groups, then tailoring the experience around their specific needs.
Think of it as the same event, with a sharper route for every audience. No forcing everyone through the same form just because it was there first.

3. MAKE FORWARDED INVITES WORK HARDER
Want invited guests to be auto-confirmed, while anyone they forward the invite to goes through approval? Duplicate the registration path, set the copied version to manual approval, and share it through a dedicated registration link.
It's a tidy way to welcome referrals without handing over the keys to the guest list.

4. REUSE THE EMAIL, NOT THE REWORK
A reusable registration experience shouldn't stop at the form. Members are also reusing an existing event email for a new invitation list, preserving the design while updating the audience and sender details.
Same message. Different list. No second round of rebuilding the email from scratch.
