Post-registration attendee changes can be completed using Substitute Registrant or the Transfer Registration widget. The replacement attendee inherits the original registration details and payments.
There is no separate, automatic "substitution fee." Service-fee behavior depends on the event's configuration:

Fees based on who the registrant is generally do not apply during registration modifications.

Fees based on how the registrant pays may apply during a modification or payment, depending on whether they are configured as a fixed amount or a percentage of the subtotal or payment amount.
We recommend reviewing the attendee's Orders & Payments record after the substitution to confirm the final balance and any applicable fees. For more information, see Substituting Registrations and Adding Service Fees.
