Hi all, let's begin our next edition of the Tip of the Week discussion! With Cvent's Event App you can easily manage and enhance audience engagement in the palm of your hand. Event App puts the best of your event into the hands of your attendees and keeps them informed, engaged, and connected with everything important for them and you. In this post, we'll share a few tips you can use while setting up your event app!

    • Getting started with the Events App Map: If you're new to the Event App, this document will guide you through everything necessary to publish an event in the Event App. It will also direct you to some helpful pages in the Cvent Community and help you avoid some common missteps that a lot of planners make.
    • Event App Publishing Options Overview: Before you get started building, you'll need to choose your app publishing option. Review the three publishing options below to help you decide which app solution is the best fit for your event.
    • Preview your Event App: As you make changes throughout the app build process, see it as attendees will by previewing your event on a mobile device or online. However, please note that any personal schedules or appointments you've created will not be visible within your event until it has been published. Know more about how you can preview online or on a mobile device using this KB article.

    • Which other tips would you suggest the first-time users of the Event App? Def. make good use of the documents library to get news out. Social engagement through the app if you can. Push notifications to notify and engage your attendees into what you're looking for.
    • How has Event App helped you increase attendee engagement? Helps us connect better, especially in light of covid and we're not looking to print materials and stay more hands off, we can communicate through apps at our events.

    Hello!

I actually haven't used the new App product but I had used the old CrowdCompass. I thought the old CrowdCompass was being phased out and the new event app is only available with Attendee Hub?

I think this is a great article to review in regards to the new event app if you are new to it:

Attendees want apps! They might not know what features they're looking for, but they want it :)  Great way to share floorplans, WiFi and housekeeping info, push notifications are a game-changer!
Be aware of what can and cannot be modified once the app is published and live. Also note that the app tied to Attendee Hub, whether attendee Hub is enable or not.

    • I have only built apps with Crowd Compass but have built using Attendee Hub in our sandbox and its so much more user friendly.  A very intuitive upgrade in line with the flex builder.
    • I find the app to be super engaging if the majority of the functionality is utilized such as schedules, appointments and gamification throughout the event.

    • Which other tips would you suggest the first-time users of the Event App?
    • I've used CrowdCompass in the past, this will be the first time using the Event App build, so looking forward to learning about all of the changes. Appreciate the tips!
    • How has Event App helped you increase attendee engagement?
    • With other event apps, gamification and frequent communications (notifications, reminders, discussion forums) and feedback mechanisms like surveys and polls always help

How has Event App helped you increase attendee engagement?
Push notifications are a great way to generate engagement during an event as long as they are targeted, well thought out, and not going out constantly. Rather than uses notifications as general reminders, include a call to action in the notification. Notifications can also be designed to help drive additional traffic to specific sessions or activities that they may not have pre-registered for (as long as that session or activity is still open).

    • Which other tips would you suggest the first-time users of the Event App? Put yourself in the attendees shoes. What do they want to know. I saw once that people integrated the actual menus in the lunch sessions, which was awesome! If you have the detail and the time, put as much in there as possible. It also helps alleviate tons of questions at the registration desk ;)
    • How has Event App helped you increase attendee engagement? Not only do apps increase engagement, it helps reduce paper and also allows for changes on the fly. Messages are key to contact mass people at once.

    Hi Megha,

My number one tip for people using the Event App for the first time is to make good use of the cards on the home page - it's a great way to highlight some of the extra content you can build on custom pages or in the documents library.

Using the Event App helps with attendee engagement because it's a one-stop shop for all things logistics. We've found that it frees up time for our attendees to organically network in the hallways between sessions.

    Cheers,

    • Which other tips would you suggest the first-time users of the Event App?
      • Read all the documentation
      • Have a process as you go through each section to build the app
    • How has Event App helped you increase attendee engagement?
      • We do not use the event app, as we currently do only virtual webinars - but I have used it in the past when it was CrowdCompass

The document link is not working. Can you please share with me as it is something I have been looking for to share with our creative agency as we begin development of the event app.

    • Which other tips would you suggest the first-time users of the Event App?
      • It can definitely be hard to visualize from the back end where everything falls within the app and how it appears the first time you build it. The in-platform preview function is fine for a quick check of something (especially if you want to see it on different device styles), but taking the app live in a hidden or password-protected format and viewing it on a device is probably the most helpful way to get familiar with the changes you are making.
    • How has Event App helped you increase attendee engagement?
      • As others have mentioned, push notifications, floor plans, and agendas are a great way to get people involved in the app, especially if you go paper-free and they need the app to access critical information. Gamification is great if you have attendees who are into it!
