For our events we have Sponsor (contact type) as a Registration Type and create different Admission Types based on our commitment levels and costs associated. We create an additional Registration Path in the designer. Another option is to use question logic in the designer and limit it by Admission item.
We leverage the Registration type path since we use Attendee Hub and have different notifications go out to different Registration types. But again, Cvent has a way to do this with Audience Segments. We just find it's the more simpler path.
