  • 1.  Branch Logic / Conditionally showing Air Actual page?

Can somebody please point me to accurate instructions? All that I can find about branch logic in the knowledge base is about surveys. I'm not doing a survey I'm trying to create a registration form in the new (non-Flex) platform. I create 1 event/year, and we skipped the last 2 years (like everybody else), and I can't find anything on this new platform.

In previous years, I was able to add a question: "Are you flying to the event? Y/N". Those answering Yes were presented with the Air Actual form on the next page, while those answering No skipped to the next question.
Seems like a pretty basic request, so I've GOT to be doing something wrong.
I've added a "Choice Question", which allows me to add a sub-question, but it's not at all obvious how that will help me to either skip a page or just add the Air Actual form. I've also tried to add a custom contact field in Admin section. This seems promising, since there's an Advanced Logic tab that allows me to show THIS field based on another field, which is the reverse of what I'm looking for.

I'm lost, confused and increasingly frustrated.

    thank you!

Hi Gene, I know if you are using Flex, under Travel Settings you can choose air and then air actuals. Is this what you mean? Forgive my ignorance but I don't know what the non-Flex platform is.

Sorry, I was using the wrong term - I meant non-Express, not non-Flex. I don't know what Flex is (is THAT the new platform?). but what you described is not my issue - I'm trying to only show the Air Actual page if the registrant had indicated on the previous page that they were flying to the event.

Well, I have not used the air travel widget in Flex but I can tell you that with the new Hotel Accommodations widget, the question that used to come up "Do you need hotel accommodations?" no longer does. It's probably the same situation as the air I think. That question was useful because, if someone didn't need housing, they didn't have to see that widget. Now they see it whether they need it or not and I do not like that feature either.

Interesting... I can't edit my old events, so I can't see how the air actual question actually worked before. But it totally makes sense that the hotel and the air would both (previously) have included the y/n question. I manually handle the hotel question, so never used the Hotel Accommodation feature before. Love it when companies change things just to change them and break them in the meantime :/

I have a similar issue with a lot of my events - but using the Air Requests widget.   You can either have it required to fill it out or not required, but if it's not required what often happens is it'll just get skipped, or if the Invitee has a guest, they won't fill it out for the guest.  I much preferred the Classic way, where they'd have to answer a Yes or No question to get the Air Request to show up.

How I've gotten around this is to create two paths - one with the Air Request widget required and one where it's not on the form at all.  Then on the main path, I have them choose a registration type (Attendee, and Attendee - No Flights Needed) which then leads them down the appropriate path - either the one they were in in the first place (Attendee) or the new path/registration type (Attendee - No Flights Needed.)   It's not great to have to have 2 registration types/paths for every registration type I'd prefer to have, but it solves the issue of folks not requesting flights when they do need flights by forcing them to choose their 'intentions' at the outset.  I bet this would also work with the Air Actuals widget, too.

I wish there was a way in Flex to get the widget to either show or not based on the answer to a question.  Same with the Hotel Request widget.  Would solve tons of issues.
