  • 1.  Saving a Contact Group

    Posted 11-02-2020 09:55
I'm having trouble in the Flex version of finding a simple way to create a contact group from event participants. I later use this group for creating surveys. In the classic version, it would allow me to select all participants and save a contact group, which took no time at all. I'm finding in Flex that when I select all participants or invitees, there is no option to save as a contact group. Let me know what solution exists. Thanks.

    Hi Steven,

The process of creating contact groups in Flex is a little different than in Classic. I hope the below info helps! :)

Automatically Adding Accepted Registrants to a Contact Group in Flex

1 Access the Site Designer. Begin by selecting your Flex event. Hover over Website and Registration and, under Registration, click Registration Process.  Click Open Site Designer.

2 Enable setting to automatically add invitees to a contact group. In the top left of the canvas, click the Registration Page dropdown. In the Registration Paths section, select your path from the dropdown, if necessary. Click the  icon to the right.

In the Advanced Settings section, toggle, "Add registered invitees to a contact group" to green. Select the group from the Contact Group dropdown, or add a new one by clicking Create Contact Group, entering a name, and clicking Create.

Decide whether to keep cancelled invitees in the group or remove them. Click Apply. If you have multiple paths, you'll need to repeat this for each one.

When you've finished, click Save to preserve a draft or Publish to make it visible to invitees.

Manually Adding Accepted Registrants to a Contact Group

1 Access an event's list of registrants. Begin by selecting your event. Hover over Invitee Management and, under Manage, click Invitees & Registrants.

A list of all invitees appears. Select Accepted from the Status dropdown.
Then, check the boxes next to the invitees you want to include. To select them all, check the top box to the left of the Name header.

2 Create a contact group. Hover over Bulk Actions and select Update Contact Groups from the dropdown.

When the pop-up opens, select one of the existing contact groups or add a new one by clicking Create a Contact Group. Name the group, then click Create & Add Selected Contacts to add the group to your Address Book.

    Hello Steven,

The easiest way is, as Chelsea showed, to automatically have your registrants be added to a group during the registration process.
If you do not have the option to enable this because you are looking at past events, I'm afraid you'll have to select your registrants, export the file, and import it again to the contact group. That said, if you select the relevant info in the export file, it should be pretty quick.
