  • 1.  Questions vs. Custom Fields

    I have been using Custom Fields to collect the items that I need beyond the typical Cvent generic questions, because that is what the individual before me used. This has been to collect information like Emergency contacts, dietary restrictions and other items. When should you use Questions vs. Custom Fields?

    Follow-up questions, how do you add questions you have put into your question library to an event? I can see where to add the questions but not one that I've already created.

    The great thing about the custom contact fields is that they will pre-populate going forward.  I don't believe the questions do.

    Hi Allie,

    Are you inquiring about Questions vs. Custom Event Fields for your Meeting Request Form, or the Event itself? If Meeting Request Form, attached are some items to consider. These were shared with me during implementation some time ago so some points might be outdated. You might want to reach out to your dedicated Solutions Specialist for further assistance if needed. 

    To answer your follow-up question, the questions in your library can only be used in Classic events. This feature is not yet ready in Flex. Click here for the community article.

    This sounds like it's for event registration.  Custom Fields will stay with the contact and populate for each event.  This is best for things that don't change from meeting to meeting.  Questions will not prepopulate and will need to be answered each time.
