  • 1.  Group Registration - Individual's registering on own instead of with Group

    Our flex event is currently set up to have each company register as a group - this will ensure pricing is done correctly and make everything easier. Occasionally, we have people incorrectly register, which results in 2 groups with 1 person each that should be one group with 2 people. I see that right now, planners aren't able to 'merge' or transfer a registrant from one group to another. Cvent's suggestion has been to go into the group leaders confirmation page and completely re-register the person. 

    Two questions - Any best practices for ensuring groups register together? I believe that Cvent's suggestion to completely re-register a registrant would result in Cvent charging for the registration for that single registrant twice. Anyone have a way around that?

    Hi Taryn,
    I'm curious why you need companies to register as a group, and if there is another option here. I know from experience that groups often don't know who all from their company might be attending to be able to register all at once - I would think this is a bit of a customer dissatisfier. The easier you can make it on your registrants... the better off you'll be and the happier they will be.

    I agree with Lori below - any way to just offer company discounts and let them register on their own? Otherwise, you could manually register each group to ensure accuracy.

    Hi Taryn,

    Do you know in advance which companies are going to be registering? We are membership based and know all of the companies in our membership so we used custom contact fields to store a database of our current member companies which we then use as our key identifier when someone registers - they simply choose from their company name from a drop-down list on the first page of registration. If you know on hand the companies who are going to be registering then this would, at the very least, limit the number of mistakes your registrants make when registering.
