Happy Monday everyone! Let's finish the month of June strong with our next Huddle of the Week discussion.

As we've discussed recently, we know many of you are beginning to explore hybrid-format events, whether you are already in the midst of planning & executing one, or are still in the beginning discovery stage.

With that, we are excited Cvent CONNECT can show you some "how-to's" when it comes to hybrid. One particular aspect of CONNECT that we're excited for is the in-person Cvent Academy Training Camp. This is a great opportunity to elevate your skills and set yourself up for continued success.

For in-person attendees, this is a single-day experience with different tracks and workshops. For our virtual attendees, you will have on-demand training session access.

With that in mind, our discussion question this week is on these particular types of sessions/workshops:

    • How do you suggest 'hands on' portions that will take place in a classroom-style in-person translate to virtual during a hybrid event?

Let us know your thoughts or your own event plans below! #HuddleoftheWeek #VoiceIt

If you haven't already, sign up for Cvent Training and Certification today, and continue your learning at Cvent CONNECT 2021!

Community Team Note: There will not be a Huddle of the Week discussion next week as our U.S. team members recognize the 4th of July holiday. Look out for the next discussion the week of July 12th!

Keep the virtual group engaged as well as the in-person group. Q&A and polls are a nice wayt to keep everything together. We are all used to the in-person meetings, its bringing them together that is the trick.

Along with Mary Ann's suggestions, I think AV quality is extremely important. The onsite AV needs to be engaging and the recorded and/or live stream feed from the in-person meeting needs to be exciting to watch. If the camera is just pointing at one part of the stage the entire time, virtual attendees will lose interest and feel forgotten. Maybe even having a virtual MC or host would be helpful to keep the audience excited and troubleshoot if there are AV issues virtually.

    Hi Dani,

A suggestion would be to have the remote attendees complete that portion of the training in an LMS-type system that's got more interactive virtual learning features. Something like Canvas can replicate the hands-on experience better than just adding polls to a breakout.

Making sure to have the AV and camera guy walk around into the groups and people so online attendees can really feel like they're part of the experience. If there's a way for people to utilize online solutions for interactive engagement, that's also great so people who are on site can also be engaged with people who are virtual.

    Hi all!

I like the suggestions made - especially Béline's since we also have an LMS.
Another suggestion specifically to handle hands-on sessions would be to setup a camera right on the presenter's hands or screen who would also be doing the hands-on exercise. We have done this successfully for exercises such as 'how to terminate a wire' where really seeing the steps being performed were a lot more effective than a set of  images on a slide deck.

We would definitely need the ability to do the work on our own so that we can learn while doing. Hands-on makes the learning "stick" more than just listening and taking notes. I'm curious if this will be available at CONNECT?

    Hi Lori,

The sessions throughout Cvent CONNECT will vary in session format, so hopefully you can see which type works best for your learning style and you can bring that back to your own organization's events! Particularly for the Training Camp at Cvent CONNECT, this is a classroom-style in-person experience, and on-demand training resources will be available for all other attendees. I'd also recommend joining the "How Cvent Hosted a Hybrid Cvent CONNECT" session on August 2 where leads from our planning team will go into behind-the-scenes detail about Cvent CONNECT.

We hope everyone is getting excited for CONNECT in just a few short weeks! :)

    Best,

    Danni
