  • 1.  Sample Survey Questions

Does anyone have sample questions they can share regarding attending in-person events later this year?

For example - looking to find out willingness to attend in-person; any budgetary restrictions, and what would be comfortable?

@Nora Chandler, I consider myself a survey queen.

You will want to use a 5 or 7 point Likert Scale and make statements, and then measure importance or agreement with each statement.

You also want to give attendees choices, i.e. "I will be comfortable attending in-person events in the following timeline:"
    1. April - June 2021
    2. July - September 2021
    3. October - December 2021
    4. Starting in 2022
    5. Never or I am not sure

Please feel free to reach out to me directly for help: Brenda.Ainsburg@siemens.com.

It is hard to share sample questions if I don't understand your event program - your attendees, your stakeholders, what budgetary items you are concerned with, if you have Sponsors, etc.

    Hello Nora,

For us, we added a very basic question "In a post-pandemic world, would you be more likely to attend this conference if it was in-person, or virtual?".
You could cover the liminal time before things go back to fully in-person being allowed by asking "How likely are you to attend this conference if it takes place in-person on [date]?" and follow up with "What factor(s) would be necessary to convince you to attend in person?" and list things like vaccination, masks, boxed lunches, social distancing, etc.

    Best,

Ask attendee timeframs on coming to an event. Attendees are more comfortable with the vaccines coming out shopping and doing what they need to, but there are those that do not feel comfortable in large groups like concerts and events. Make the timeframe to include 2022, attendees might be in a wait and see mode right now with the vaccines being so new.
Options for attending in-person or virtual might be a great question to ask, then the estimated attendance can be anticipated.

I really like Brenda's question. I also wonder if a question regarding travel budget might be helpful. I think that since we've seen that we CAN attend virtual events successfully, it's going to definitely affect travel budgets. Many people who have been able to travel for events in the past may find that's not the case this year.

I'm at a university so we've had to spice things up a bit, but I'm a fan of BASIC:
    - Would you feel comfortable attending a "in person event" and if so under what circumstances (everyone masked, social distancing, reduced capacity) - open for comments
    - Would you pay more to come to a reduced style in person event or would you prefer to pay less to do a full virtual event? (Maybe have a cost set for each)

For us, we also ask just a basic anonymous:  Do you plan to be vaccinated by the time of the event? This goes a bit into HIPPA so be careful.   You can maybe phrase it with the question above (Everyone in attendance has been vaccinated etc).
