  • 1.  Automatically "tag" registrants based on answer to question?

    Posted 06-25-2020 11:28
I am wondering if anyone is aware of any direct way or workaround to be able to "tag" their registrants in some way based on how they answer a question in registration?

Our organization identifies and separates our constituents internally by "region" (northwest, southwest, central, etc), each region being a collection of counties. Externally, however, knowing that "region" is somewhat ambiguous, we simply ask our registrants which "county" they are in. Is there any way to AUTOMATICALLY tag registrants, as they register, with their region based on which county they identify? They currently identify their county through a custom contact field formatted as a drop-down.  I am ultimately trying to avoid making them identify and select which region they are a part of themselves.

I am open to creative solutions. So far, the closest workaround I could identify was:
    1. Internal Information - but this requires manual input/import
    2. Contact Groups - which either requires manual input/import, or access to Appointments, which we don't have.
    3. Seating Assignments - requires manual input/import

Sounds like you need a calculated field based on an answer. That is something I don't see possible.
The only thing I can think of is to create a hidden internal field as you suggested.
Export to excel your list of attendees, confirmation number, first name, last name, state, county.
Sort state and county. Add the region and import back.

I need to assign numbers to all attendees. I use this method all the time.

Not familiar with appointments or tables.

    Erin,

We have a similar setup with our members: The county they live in determines the membership district. The way we set it up was through custom fields. The first field is a Choice - Single Answer (Drop-Down) from which they choose their county. The second field is also a Choice - Single Answer (Drop-Down).  We added all our districts, and then applied advanced logic with the county field as the source. From there, we just map which choices in the previous question (counties) apply to which choices in the second (districts).

When we want to gather the data (like in a membership application), we make both fields required. This means that people still have to choose their district, but with the advanced logic setup, they only have one choice.

Refer to step 3 in the help document here: https://support.cvent.com/apex/CommunityArticle?id=000002703&Lang=en_US

    Hope this helps!
