Hi everyone! Another Wednesday means another Tip of the Week. Today, we're covering one of our favorite features that we want to make sure everyone knows about. We're talking Engagement Scoring!

Engagement Scoring is your go-to feature to discover and analyze your attendee's engagement within your event (virtual or in-person or both!). You're able to see their interactions in entirety - from the very beginning of registration to the end of the event lifecycle when they are completing your feedback survey.

Before we walk through how to enable this and best practices, let's review how valuable this can be to you as a planner or marketer:

    • You can see trends within attendee engagement through the overall engagement score.
    • You can determine which areas of your event are most popular or gaining the most traction.
    • You can analyze these scores and use them to target certain attendees for marketing and sales leads.
    • Overall, you can learn how to optimize your engagement strategy for the future.
    • Sneak peek into tomorrow's weekly release notes - just this week we released an integration between Engagement Scoring and Marketo and Eloqua. This is huge for any event marketers!

So, where do you enable this and how do you set it up?

    • Within your event, enable this within Event Details > General > Event Configuration.
    • Access this within Promotion & Communication > Attendee Engagement > Engagement Score > Open Engagement Score.
    • Immediately, you can see the Overall Engagement Score, which will be the average across all attendees.
    • Review the templates (which is a newer enhancement!) or add your own custom scores by clicking the Add Score dropdown and selecting either Start with template or Create custom score. We'd recommend starting with one of our templates the first time you explore this.
    • If you chose Start with template, you can now select Event content, Exhibitor, or Product engagement. This is up to you depending on your event and your goals.
    • Based on your selection, click Next and complete the process by giving the score a name, selecting the Sessions and Exhibitors to include, and click Done. Easy as that, you have a templated score to start with. Now, you can add more, edit this existing one, or create custom scores.
      • Get creative here. Use custom scores to specifically track what's important to your organization and event.
    • Once you have your scores set, it's important to review and report on these. For the overall score as well as any individual scores, you can always View Score Dashboard to see more detail such as participants and actions completed.
    • Within your event reporting, there are also the Engagement Score and Engagement Score by Company reports to dig in further. These include data on the game such as Rank, Most Engaged Player, and Engaged Percentage. The Engagement Score by Company report is particularly interesting if you are determining which organizations to invite to future events or partner closer with.

    Questions for You:

    • How have you used Engagement Scoring to influence your future event strategy after seeing trends and popular actions?
    • What is a custom score you typically create in your events?

Let us know below! If you have any feedback on this feature, we'd love to hear it, as well. #CventTip

I wish we used engagement scoring but our events are usually very simple. It's great and nice to know the system does all this so should we start expanding we can plan well from the start!

    • How have you used Engagement Scoring to influence your future event strategy after seeing trends and popular actions?
    • We haven't used this Engagement Scoring feature yet, but in previous events we've used engagement metrics to help identify which types of sessions/content/speakers resonate best with our attendees to help craft future programs.
    • What is a custom score you typically create in your events?
    • We typically look at attendance per session, engagement with various polls/quizzes/etc. to help determine the success of a particular event

Engagement scoring is used in the world of digital marketing to guide a prospect's journey through the sales funnel from MQL (marketing qualified lead) to SQL (sales qualified lead), and eventually become a customer. It's nice to see an option with Cvent to feed into that overall scoring model. Is this also available in HubSpot?

    Hi Danielle,

Has Cvent found that it is a favorable feature? I am curious because of the additional fee and wondering if they would ever incorporate this feature into a new product, etc.? Thanks for sharing found it super cool.
