I would suggest utilizing the Exhibitor Management tool and create a new registration type called "Sponsor Attendee Pass." You can have the sponsor contact/admin go in and either register their people OR they can click to get a link to send to their people for them to register themselves. You can control how many passes each Sponsor/Exhibitor gets.
For the issue of the attendee who purchased a sponsorship and will thus utilize one of their "Sponsor Attendee Passes," I believe all you'd need to do is change their registration type on the back end to the "Sponsor Attendee Pass," which will then refund their payment because the new registration type doesn't cost anything. You should be able to then go into the company's profile in the Exhibitor Management tool and connect the person to the company's profile so it shows as using one of their passes. I'd call Cvent and have them walk you through it to make sure you're doing it correctly.
The Exhibitor Management tool is also very helpful for collecting the needed information directly from the Sponsors such as logos and company descriptions, allowing them to edit it if needed. You can also create levels/categories for the Sponsors (e.g. Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, etc.) and assign each Sponsor a level/category.
Search help for Exhibitor Management to see everything this tool can do. :)

Subject: Registration for vendors vs. attendees
Hello,
I set up registration for vendors to purchase a sponsorship that will include 1-4 full conference attendee passes. My plan was to
create a promo code for the attendee passes and then have the staff register their people for the event that way, but if an
attendee is the one who purchased the sponsorship, then they're already 'registered' for the event.
What's the best practice for this? How do you all handle this issue?
Thank you.
