    Hi Cvent Community!  

    Today, I will be highlighting my presentation at this year’s Cvent CONNECT - The Data You Need and How to Use it in an Integrated Travel & Meetings ProgramI always love presenting at Cvent CONNECT our clients are such experts, and in sharing information with them, I always learn something new from their questions and commentsI am excited to share these same conversations with the entire Cvent Community!  

    There is high value in integrating programs –by identifying synergies you can save your company time and money and increase efficiencyDuring my presentation, I highlighted the data sources and information you should look at from both your meetings and event programs as well as transient travel programs. This data allows you to maximize your negotiations with vendors, primarily venues and hotelsFor example, the Cvent Supplier Network contains data on total meeting room nights, total meeting spend, and bit rate history.  Cvent Business Transient includes information on preferred suppliers, average transient rate, and negotiated rate which can be used in your meeting space negotiations.  

    The biggest barrier to achieving success in integrating programs is primarily organizational structure. However, there are six steps to help you successfully integrate your travel and meetings programs. You should: assess current state, aggregate data, outline goals, identify key executives, outline potential savings opportunities, and show how align resources. These steps get summarized into one quick sentence that I know can be difficult to activate, but many companies have seen value in taking these steps.

    Thanks Julie for a great presentation! 

    I think in our case the main barrier to have a better integrated travel & meetings program is that a lot of our meetings happen in smaller towns so venue sourcing through Cvent Supplier Network is not doable.

    I don't use the business traveler portion, so that doesn't apply to me. I do use the supplier network and find it very valuable especially when negotiating multi-meeting contracts for my largest program. Since I normally book smaller events in my same area, I have good relationships with the local properties and don't require the data very often.
