  • 1.  SMMP Stakeholder Survey

    Posted 07-23-2019 10:59
I do a annual SMMP Stakeholder survey to see how they feel the program is doing, I am looking to change up some of the questions I have been asking.  If anyone has a survey they have used and can share with me that would be great! Thanks, Robin

Please share your findings! We have so much trouble with getting actionable statistics based on satisfaction. "How far would you be willing to travel for our next event" has been very useful in determining destinations.

@Robin Stewart, I do a lot of surveys for my organization, from Principal/Business Owner surveys to role-based surveys to "how did you like this class" surveys. My first question is "What are the things important to your stakeholders?"

You mentioned "how they feel the program is doing." What metrics is success based on? For feeling type responses, I recommend an easy 5-point Likert scale for scoring, i.e.:

Statement: The XYZ meeting program provides a valuable return on investment
Answers: Strongly Agree, Agree, Neutral (Neither Agree Nor Disagree), Disagree, Strongly Disagree

I prefer using statements to questions, using a 5 point Likert Scale, and using scoring in my survey tool.

If you could reply with a few criteria about what your success is gauged on and also what you have learned that the stakeholders value, you can come up with very relevant questions that will 1) indicate where you are at the moment and 2) indicate how you have progressed over time.

I use the same 15 questions with a 5-point likert scale to ask attendees overall how they liked the content, presenters, venue, networking, food, etc. about my event. And I can see that we've steadily risen in all categories YoY.

Also, I combine my Strongly Agree and Agree statements to indicate a "good score" and my stated goals are 80% satisfaction in all categories.

I am available for a 1:1 call if you'd like me to demonstrate some of this for you. I can't post the data here because it is potentially restricted data.

We break our surveys down in to various categories, depending on the event the categories will vary but in general: customer service, program content, venue, communication & promotion, and general event feedback. Within the categories we ask for feedback on things like the event website, sessions, check-in process, clarity & detail of communications, etc.

We ask attendees of our adult education to rate statements about their experience or specific areas (online registration, onsite registration, parking, etc...) using a 5 point Likert Scale, and using scoring via Qualtrics.
