  • 1.  More lessons learned on virtual events – halfway through 2021

    Posted 06-07-2021 10:28

Hi, community members! We missed our Huddle of the Week discussion last week and are ready to start this week off strong. At the start of the year, we had a really fantastic discussion on what you wish you'd known when going virtual.

Considering we are now about halfway through 2021, we'd love to bring that topic back up, assuming you have gained even more experience and insights in the virtual event world. Let's dig in:

    • What new lessons have you learned on virtual events since the start of 2021?
    • Extra note: What lessons do you feel will apply to hybrid events and even the return to in-person?

Let us know your thoughts and experiences below! #HuddleoftheWeek #VoiceIt

    • What new lessons have you learned on virtual events since the start of 2021?Learning to pivot to virtual events and learning all the elements of making a virtual event happen was huge. Zoom and WebEx have had platform changes since the pandemic. Learning those on the fly was difficult.
    • Extra note: What lessons do you feel will apply to hybrid events and even the return to in-person?Now that the elements of virtual events are known, the element of  in-person events will be added back into the mix. We will tap into Cvent Diagramming to set for  social distancing, and assure that we provide a high level of value to all attendees (virtual and in-person). The event should not feel like two different events, but two different experineces as we work through the pre-event, day of event, and post-event.

    • What new lessons have you learned on virtual events since the start of 2021? We're starting to look beyond static events now. Create more of an environment with our sessions so people feel more like they're at the live event. Also starting to work on our first hybrid and how to adapt.
    • Extra note: What lessons do you feel will apply to hybrid events and even the return to in-person? We'll need to start looking at ways on how to engage people who are both in-person and not in-person. Content needs to be digestible in many forms.

    • What new lessons have you learned on virtual events since the start of 2021? Continuing to re-tool content to make it work for virtual, especially when it comes to maintaining engagement and interest. Also, given that our attendees are now more familiar with virtual platforms, we have the opportunity to utilize a variety of engagement features that now require less of a learning curve vs. the start of the pandemic when everything was so new.
    • Extra note: What lessons do you feel will apply to hybrid events and even the return to in-person? Certainly content presentation and driving engagement. We need to ensure that we are keeping content succinct, engaging, and interesting.
