  • 1.  Abstract Submission Types - Multiple options

If an individual is submitting a workshop or panel, but would also be willing to speak individually on a certain topic, how would I set up the Abstract to capture this? Is there a way to enable multiple submission types?

    Hi Laura!

There's a couple ways you could go about setting this up. While there's only one type of submission - you can allow individuals (authors) to make multiple submissions. If you wanted authors to make separate submissions to signify their willingness to speak individually on a certain topic, you could include a text widget directing authors to title their submissions with a naming convention that would help you differentiate the workshop/panels from the individual topics (maybe something like Title = Topic Submission - [topic]).

Alternatively - and this would be simpler to implement, in my opinion - you could create this as a submission question within the submission form. You could add a choice question to the form asking whether they would be willing to speak individually on a topic, then hover the widget and hover the ellipses (...) that appears beside the widget name, and select "Add sub-question". Here you could add a text question if you want the individuals to free write the topic they would be willing to speak to, or add another choice question if you want to limit the available options (you can also add an "Other" option with free writing on the choice question). At the bottom of the widget settings where you see "Sub-Question Logic", you would configure that so the question only appears when the submitting author selects "Yes" on the original question.
