This is a great tip; I use spacers a lot to make images smaller. Another tip is to increase the padding within the widget, which often shrinks the image a little more as well.

If you add an image widget, you can also add spacer widgets next to it so that the image doesn't look as large when you first add it to the site designer. The only other option is to choose No for the setting in the speaker profile that says "Display to Attendees".
