Hi Vicki! To add on to Tori's great response, I wanted to share an example of our Know Before You Go and Registration Confirmation emails that we use for our Customer Success Groups! And you're totally able to use data tags in place of specific info such as session date/time, location etc.
As for subject lines, I may have to use some of Tori's suggestions as they're better than mine :)

Some of these are longer than the recommended length, but whatever shows in the preview may be enough to pull them in?
In reference to the confirmation, I don't usually make a lot of changes to the Cvent template, aside from taking out the "registration info" widget and putting in the "All Registration Information" data tag instead. I've also been adding in the new calendar invite links recently.
