Happy Wednesday everyone! Let's kickstart with our next edition of the Tip of the Week discussion!

Did you know that you can encourage networking at your event by allowing attendees to send private messages to each other directly within the Attendee Website and Event App?

Follow these tips/instructions to enable or disable attendee messaging within your event.

    1. Access the Attendee Website and App Builder. Begin by selecting your event. From the left-hand navigation, click Attendee Hub, then Website and App.
    Click Manage website and app.

    2.  Check the status of the Attendee Messaging feature. Verify that Attendee Messaging is enabled or disabled for your event based on your preference. From the left-hand navigation, click Features, then Community.
Next to Attendee Messaging, click the icon, then select Turn the feature on or Turn the feature off. Click 'save'

    3.  Enable the attendee list if desired. To encourage attendee networking, enable the attendee list along with Attendee Messaging if you haven't already.
On the website, a "Send Message" button will appear next to attendees on the attendee list once enabled. In the app, attendees can tap the message icon that appears in the bottom right of a fellow attendee's profile to send them a message.

Yes, we used for our last event and it went very well!

Important to communicate about the new feature before the event (Add to FAQ and "Know Before You Go" and Speaker Site email). Remind about the new feature during the event too!

    • Enables attendees network by reaching out to each other.
    • Enables attendees reach out to speakers with direct questions.
    • Enables direct contact with event staff and attendees and speakers.

We don't actually allow attendees to message each other on the app due to privacy concerns. While I can see how that would be useful to network or set up meetings at a conference, that typically isn't the type of event that we run.

Planning ahead helps tremendously. We put together a communication schedule that includes message content, timing and recipients. Also, taking advantage of scheduled messaging features helps.

We dont use Attendee Hub so I was not too familiar on them. We try to implement chatting through apps, etc for our events but our always stopped by GDPR worries, have you guys experienced anything around GDPR complaints of allowing people to randomly contact others through the app?

    • Were you already aware of the above tips and have been using them? Yes. For our webinars, we do not allow attendees to send private messages, so we have it disabled. We also do not share the attendee list with other attendees.
    • Share your best hack on how you manage attendee messaging for your event. We do not allow attendees to message each other, but we do have push notifications that are used to notify attendees.
