  • 1.  Setting up registration in Flex where the attendee names are not yet known

    Posted 05-12-2022 02:57
Hi. I've been using Cvent for years but my main audience has been the public sector so I've always been ok when taking registrations to ask for them to register the attendees in the first instance (and they can transfer later if they end up not attending),

I'm about to deliver an event for an entirely different audience who want to just purchase blocks of tickets and provide the names of attendees later.

Does anyone have any advice in how to set this up???

How about setting up a Block name with the number of attendees and using those (Block X, Attendee 1; Block X, Attendee 2, etc) and fill in the attendee details as they have them if possible.

Can you utilize the Group Registration function and have placeholders for the attendee names.  TBD 1, TBD 2, etc with dummy email addresses until they have finalized details?

I run into this problem when it comes to sponsors. I just first name 1, last name 1,  first name 2, last name 2 and so forth as Lisa suggests.
If the registrations are guest registrations no need for an email. But when I do need fake email addresses I use firstname1@example.com, firstname2@example.com.

    Hi Rebecca,

The suggestions below cover it, there is no great way to do dummy registrations as placeholders. I would recommend utilizing the group registration feature though, so that at least, once they are ready, your one folk from Group 1 can go in and modify all of the reg for their group.

    Hi Bec,

That is a very hard situation! I hate making people go back into Cvent to modify their registration to add new details as they change. Could you set up the number of tickets as an admission item and just make the attendee names a fill-in question? I know that wouldn't help if you are using On Arrival and want a quick attendee guest count or need to set thresholds. Otherwise, I do agree with the others below that the best option could be to use guests or group registration.
