Hi Megha,
Other audience engagement strategies that have worked wonders for us are to gather questions for the speakers ahead of time, during registration. This way, when the Q&A starts, if the in-person audience is feeling a little shy, or running the mic takes a bit of time, our moderator can ask of of these already submitted (and reviwed/approved) questions to the speaker. This avoids awkward blanks but also encourages others to start asking questions.
Best,

Subject: Audience engagement strategies to make your event a success!
Hey lovely community members, I hope you had a great weekend. Now, let's kickstart Monday with a Huddle of the Week discussion!
Audience engagement plays a significant role in making your event a success. Event organizers want attendees to pay attention and participate, whether in-person or online. Today, all event planners and marketers understand that choosing the right audience engagement strategies can make or break an event.
Let's look at three key audience engagement strategies you must try out:
- Understand your audience: Do thorough research about the kind of audience you're targeting. Defining their persona will help you understand who they are, their behavior, and what they care about. This audience analysis will help you cater to their needs and design an event based on their interests.
- Determine which metrics you will use to measure engagement: Before an event, determine which audience engagement strategies you'll employ and which metrics you'll use to measure success. You can use various metrics to measure engagement such as Live participation (polls, Q&As, live discussions), ratings, reviews, and app downloads amongst others.
- Choose the right speakers: Pacing, enunciation, tone, and cadence are just as important as substance, so look for confident and experienced speakers. The speaker must be charismatic and credible enough to hold your audience's attention and keep them engaged. They should be viewed as reliable experts on the topic of discussion.
Questions for you:
- Do you know other audience engagement strategies that have worked wonders for you?
- Which tools do you use to increase audience engagement at your events?
