Community Terms of Use
Welcome to the Cvent Community! By accessing or using the Cvent Community, you agree to abide by the below terms (the “Terms” or the “Agreement”) as well as the Privacy Policy which may be updated by us from time to time in our sole discretion. This Agreement is between you (“You” or “Your”) and Cvent, Inc. on behalf of itself and its wholly-owned subsidiaries, as applicable (“Cvent” or “We” or “Our”).
These Terms of Use were last updated on March 3, 2022.
The goal of the Cvent Community is to provide an environment for users to share, connect, and learn about Cvent products. Giving you a voice gives us insight into your interests, and how you are utilizing our product and services.
Your Responsibilities:
Don’t be fake: Logging in as someone else, including Cvent employees or fellow users is forbidden as is falsely stating or suggesting that You are associated with us or another person or entity.
Play nice: Cvent users are a diverse bunch from across the globe with an array of different experiences and opinions. You are free to disagree with the people You encounter but be respectful at all times.
Be thoughtful: Our audience is looking for answers. Posting inaccurate facts, data, or experiences will only get in the way of the guidance they seek. Content containing false or misleading information will be removed. Please also remember that you may be providing content for an international audience. Things that do not seem abusive, obscene, or offensive to you might be perceived as such by others.
Stay safe: Avoid posting confidential information including certain contact information, such as Your email address or phone number in blogs and other public forums. Also never distribute Your account username or password. Sharing logins is a violation of our terms of use and a huge security risk. Any information or material posted on the Community will be deemed to be public, i.e., not confidential.
Don’t sell: The Cvent Community is a place for Cvent users to learn about how to be successful with our products, not Yours. Unsolicited offers, overhyping third-party services, and all other forms of unauthorized commercial activity are prohibited. It is against the Community Terms to submit content in exchange for payment or other consideration from another person or entity.
Follow the law: Do not send messages that violate anti-spam laws. Similarly, messages should not be posted if they encourage or facilitate users to arrive at any agreement that either expressly or impliedly leads to price fixing, a boycott of another's business, or other conduct that illegally restricts free trade. Messages that encourage or facilitate an agreement about the following subjects are inappropriate: prices, discounts, or terms or conditions of sale; salaries; profits, profit margins, or cost data; market shares, sales territories, or markets; allocation of customers or territories; or selection, rejection, or termination of customers or suppliers.
Don’t infect: Do not upload files that contain viruses or similar software or programs designed to damage computer systems.
Respect other’s rights: Do not post material in violation of a third party’s intellectual property, privacy or publicity rights.
Don’t be obscene: Do not post anything inappropriate, obscene, abusive, libelous, tortious or otherwise unlawful. This is not the place for that sort of thing.
Help us out: If something seems hostile, inaccurate, or spammy, let us know. Our moderators review every report they receive and take action when someone violates these guidelines.
Have fun: Share your success with others who can benefit from Your contributions. Be loud and proud of what You have achieved in the past with Cvent!
Follow discussion etiquette: Have a concise and clear subject line that includes Your topic. Do not send messages to all community members with “following,” “me, too,” or “thanks for the information.”

Minor Abuses
For minor abuses, such as solicitation, posting contact information, or being insensitive to other users, we abide by a simple 3-strike policy.
First Offense: A moderator will privately reach out to You. The flagged content will be removed.
Second Offense: The account manager will be notified and issue a second warning. The flagged content will be removed.
Third offense: The flagged content will be removed and access to forums and user groups is revoked. You will still be able to search the knowledge base and open cases, but will no longer be able to connect with other Cvent users.
Severe Abuses
Severe abuses such as harassment, discriminatory language, libel, or posts that upload malicious files will immediately be removed without warning and may be reviewed by Cvent’s legal department. The contributor will lose access to the community and will be notified by their account manager and, if proven necessary, Legal.

Additional Terms for Cvent Community User Group Leaders
As a Community User Group Leader, your mission will be to create and foster a thriving community with Cvent at its core. Community User Group Leaders engage with members of the Community, plan virtual and in-person meetings and events, provide educational opportunities for members, and partner closely with the Cvent Community Team.
Code of Conduct
All Community User Group Program Leaders are expected to observe the Cvent Community Terms of Use as well as the following Code of Conduct:
Use the Community User Group tools and resources. The Community User Group Program offers each Community User Group the use of certain tools and resources. These can include, but are not limited to event management platforms, communication platforms, external Cvent orgs, and Partner applications, solutions, and services donated to the Community User Group Program and other similar services. These tools and resources are solely for use by your Community User Group and may not be used for personal, company, or commercial purposes. You may not share your password or login credentials for these tools and resources with any other individuals without the Community Team’s prior written consent, which may be provided via email. These are the only approved tools and resources offered to you as a leader, and any additional tool or resource you would like to use needs to be pre-approved in writing (email shall suffice) by an authorized member of the Community Team. Please keep in mind that in using the tools and resources made available to you, you are subject to, and responsible for complying with, those tools and resources’ terms, conditions, and policies.
Be Aware of Conflicts of Interest. We expect you, as leaders and members, to be aware when you have a conflict of interest due to employment or other projects you are involved in. You are expected to abstain or to delegate decisions that may be seen to be self-interested. We expect that everyone who participates as a Community User Group Leader does so with the goal of sharing, learning, and growing the Community. When in doubt, reach out to the Community Team for further clarification.
Keep the community’s information safe. In your role as a Community User Group Leader, you may interact with Cvent customers, MVPs, Partners, and other individuals who provide you with their contact information. This contact information is confidential and for the sole purpose of the Community User Group Program. You may not share the contact information or use it for your benefit or your company’s or any third party’s benefit--even after your term as a leader end. Leaders are not permitted to solicit or collect Community User Group or customer data at meetings, events, or otherwise. We take great care to protect your data and privacy and want you to practice the same.
Step down considerately. While you are a Community User Group Leader, you might find that new priorities or life events may affect your availability. As a Community User Group Leader, you need to be mindful of your own limitations. If you find your commitment and time are wavering, you are encouraged to step down to focus on yourself, your wellbeing and/or other commitments. Like the onboarding process, there will be an offboarding process and the Community Team would love to hear any nominations you might have for someone to take over your role as leader. If you are considering stepping down, start the conversation with the Community Team (communitymanager@cvent.com) and they’ll guide you through the next steps.
Community User Group Leader Eligibility
Before you apply to start a Community User Group, or join an existing Community User Group’s leadership, there are a few items you will need to verify at a minimum:
- You are active in the Cvent Community and are excited to create an environment to promote sharing and learning with other customers.
- You have knowledge in the type of Community User Group you’d like to lead. This doesn’t mean you’re an expert, but you have the enthusiasm to learn more and the reach to bring knowledge experts to your meetings.
- You have checked the current Community User Group directory to verify that the group you wish to start doesn’t already exist.
- You are an active user on the online Cvent Community and would be able to maintain online engagement with your group.
- You will be able to host at least four useful, informative, and fun in-person meetings a year.
- You will encourage members of your community to network, learn, share, and collaborate.
Leaders’ Relationship to Cvent
We are happy to support and partner with Community User Group Leaders as they create and grow their local communities. Keep in mind, however, that Cvent is not a leader’s employer, and, likewise, leaders are not Cvent employees. This means that you cannot claim to be an employee of Cvent, nor can you sign contracts or enter into agreements on Cvent’s behalf. This also means that you are not entitled to any benefits that Cvent employees are entitled to under Cvent’s policies or programs.
New Leader Onboarding
Do you want to lead? Great! Cvent encourages the voluntary self-nomination of new leaders into the Community User Group Program. We want potential new leaders to feel empowered to apply to start a new Community User Group, to offer their co-leadership to an existing Community User Group or to adopt an existing Community User Group that may be experiencing a leadership transition. Cvent will provide all new Community User Group Leaders with specific documentation to help them make the new transition as smooth and easy as possible. If you are interested in learning more or potentially becoming a Cvent Community User Group Leader, then please contact us at communitymanager@cvent.com.
Feedback Reporting
If you see something either online or offline that doesn’t feel right, we encourage you to let the Community Team know. The issue you report could be violations of these guidelines or the Code of Conduct set out above, conflicts, problems, or anything along those lines. The Community Team is here to support the community and we thank you in advance for helping us keep an eye out.
Program Removal
Behaving in a way that is inconsistent with this policy may result in removal from the Community User Group program. These guidelines and policies are not exhaustive, and we reserve the right to modify them at any time. Any such changes will be effective upon posting. Cvent reserves the right to remove a Community User Group Leader from the program at any time and at its sole discretion.
Cvent places great trust in Community User Group Leaders. For that reason, we take your interest and self-nomination seriously. To uphold the integrity of the program, we will 1) reject the application of or 2) remove anyone who will or has engaged in activities or practices that do not represent the community appropriately. These activities and practices deemed inappropriate by Cvent include, but are not limited to the following:
- Any violation of the Community User Group Leader this Policy or the Cvent Community Terms of Use.
- A Community User Group Leader’s acceptance of gifts, services, money, or anything of value from members of the community, Cvent’s Partners, or anyone else, for direct or indirect personal gain. (Any questions on how monetary sponsorship can be accepted for express reimbursement of Community User Group meeting-related expenses incurred by the Community User Group Leader should be directed to community@Cvent.com).
- The use of defamatory, harassing, or otherwise inappropriate language against Cvent, its customers, partners, or other members of the community.
- Any activity or practice that does not represent the character and core values of Cvent and its community.
Should you be removed from the program, you will no longer be allowed to claim affiliation with the Community User Group program, and you will be required to remove references to being a Community User Group Leader in all forums including social media, LinkedIn, blogs etc. Any defamatory, derogatory, harassing, or inappropriate behavior as a member of the community may result in legal action by Cvent.
