Hi all,

I'm a new Cvent user and currently in the process of building out my first event. I think I have a good handle on it but still stumbled a little when it comes to guests registration.

For context we have a few Reg Types for our event, let's called them Alumni, Board Members, Major Donors. We allow these folks to also register their guests, so I already created Reg Type "Guest of Alumni," "Guest of Board Members," and "Guest of Major Donors" in case the main invitees want to bring someone along.

Issue: for the life of me, I can't find any logic function that allows me to assign the guest's Reg Type automatically based on the main invitee's type. Any suggestions on how to do this?

If you create separate reg paths for each of the primary reg types, you can then assign the correct corresponding guest reg type in the guest form for each path. In the the guest form for each path, add the Registration Type widget to the form and in the settings, limit the available reg types to the one that corresponds to the primary reg type of the path. 

If you currently have only one reg path that all of the primary reg types are using, you can quickly separate these out into separate reg paths by using the Duplicate feature. 

1. select the reg path that you want to use as the model for the other paths
2. click the settings gear to the right of the path and set the Reg Type to the first of the primary type and then Apply the change
3. scroll down to the Guest Form and select it
4. add the Registration Type widget to the form and limit the types to the guest type that corresponds to the primary type for this path
5. Scroll up to the reg path drop down and click  the Create Path button and choose Duplicate
6. repeat steps 2-4 for each of the primary reg types

I responding to this from my phone and doing it from memory so if there is a slight variation to the actual steps let me know but i think this will solve your issue.

That's what I would recommend also. If you limit reg type to the matching guest type, it will be checked by default.
My main reg type is MEMBER and guests are MEMBERGUEST.
