With each passing quarter, Cvent has been working to give Event App more features to get it more up to the CrowdCompass functionality we were used to. For instance, this past quarter we got the ability to create groups in order to send push notifications to specific targets like we could do in CC.
I think the biggest difference you will find is in building it. There is a preview function for the app in the backend builder, but I personally find it slow and cumbersome to use, so in order to see the app on a device, you have to take it live and register for the event so you can log in and view it. Fortunately, unlike CC, you can change almost everything in Event App even when it is live. The only thing that can't be changed is the compliance statement once someone has accepted it (which will most likely be you when you go to view the app). You can hide the app so it can only be found via event ID (or just password-lock it with the same event ID) while you are building, then make it visible when you are ready for launch.
The home page is much different - no more icon navigation, but you still have speakers, sessions, sponsors, and an attendee list. You can feature important sessions, sponsors and speakers to appear on the home page. You can also make a quick link that sits at the top of the home page to go to other areas of the app. There's no activity feed per se, but you can create one by using a discussion board. People can post comments and pictures so it serves pretty much the same purpose. You can still do push notifications and attendee messaging, and the integration for pulling over your sessions, sponsors and attendees is much tighter!
I'm sure there's more I'm not thinking of but those were the main things for me. :)

Subject: CrowdCompass vs Attendee Hub
I have been out of the Cvent game for about 5 years. I used to be very proficient with CrowdCompass, but know it's just a matter before I'll be using Attendee Hub (I work third-party now, so what platforms I use are dictated by my clients). For those who have gone from CrowdCompass to Attendee Hub, what are the biggest perks, drawbacks, learning curves, etc. I should be aware of?
