  • 1.  Discount an optional session fee based on a previous session selection

    Posted 06-10-2023 18:33

    Hi Everyone -

I'm stumped on this and it's starting to make my brain hurt! We have added some new sponsorship options to a sponsorship sales "event" that is already open, and selling sponsorships for 2 different events. Some new options are stand-alone purchases and some are only available as an add-on to one of the packages. But, 2 of them can be either a stand-alone purchase at one price OR an add-on at 3 lower prices, depending on what package they've selected. The problem is that the Admission Items are already being used to determine which event the person wants to sponsor (Event A, Event B, or Both), so I'm working in the Sessions section. The packages are set up as a Session Group and they must choose one from the list - Titanium, Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze.

    Now for the hard part:

    • If someone chooses the Titanium package, they can select NewAddOn1 and/or NewAddOn2 there wouldn't be any additional fee attached
    • If someone chooses Platinum, Gold, or Silver, they can select NewAddOn1 and/or NewAddOn2 for an additional $1,000 ea.
    • If someone chooses Bronze, they can select NewAddOn1 and/or NewAddOn2 for an additional $1,500 ea.

I thought I'd be able to use discount codes to accomplish this, but "previous session selection" is not an option under the advanced filters. Basically, I'd like to create a discount code that says "If Platinum Sponsorship Package and NewAddOn1 are selected, deduct $2,000 from the NewAddOn1 fee" - does that make sense?

Any help is GREATLY appreciated! :-)

    Pam

    Hi Pam,

Are you currently using Registration Types in this event? If not, you could set up Registration Types to be the sponsorship tiers Titanium, Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze. We can then use the registration type to determine the pricing of their add-ons. So someone would first select the tier, then their event, and then see the add-ons as sessions.

    Hi Madeline -

Yes, sorry, I should have mentioned that in my original post. We are already using Registration Types because, on top of all the other complexities of our sponsorship sales, we have 3 different groups purchasing them - Members, Vendors, and Strategic Partners...and they, naturally, get different choices/prices.

I will map out a new setup next year; I'm just trying to get through this year since it was already open. 😳

    Hi Pamela,

What we do is create a custom contact field and set the discount code to take the $2,000 off if they select that response.

    For instance:

    Custom field: Confirm NewAddOn

    NewAddOn1

    NewAddOn2

Create a discount code that if they have admission item Platinum and they select NewAddOn1 then you take off $2,000 and have it auto apply

    Hope this helps!
