How can I reduce the space between the image and text in the image widget? At the moment there is large white space and I'm not sure how to reduce that.

If you select the widget and then go into customize the widget, go alllll the way do the bottom and set all the spacings to zero. This should reduce it. You will also need to do the same for the text widgets.
