Aloha Sara,
Great question! Our events have varied over time and have ranged from having just one generic attendee registration type to upwards of 8+ registration types (to include spouse/guests, exhibitors/vendors, staff, and special guests - as an example).
In the example you cited about the day-only ticket attendee, your event could have registration types that are broader in nature, such as general attendee, vendor, staff, etc. then create sessions to accommodate the one-day ticket attendee versus the full-conference attendee. Also, if your event is a paid event, you could then set specific registration fee pricing per session, set-up specific add-to-calendar links and emails per session. Generating session reports will be an easy way to help you track your attendees as well.
I hope this helps. You can also check out the Cvent article, The Complete Guide to Registration Types here.
Best,
Sarah K.

Subject: Registration Types
Hello! I am looking for ideas on how groups keep registration types low. We end up with numerous registration types, based on attendee type, day only tickets, etc. Has anyone found a good way to organize different types?
