Hi John,
Great question. It is not possible to require only ".edu" email addresses during registration, however, what you can do is allow specific .edu domains on the registration path.
What you can do is:
- Create a student registration path and place the student Admission Item only on this path. Then in that path's settings, turn on an email domain restriction and add allowed school domains (e.g. @Cvent.edu). This limits access to that path-and therefore the admission item-to those domains
- Because Cvent requires full domains , you cannot enter just ".edu" in the domain restriction settings. If you want any and all ".edu" email addresses, you'll need to maintain a list of domains to allow
- If you prefer a single path for all students to register on the same path as other attendees, you can assign registration types using custom logic to mark registrants whose email contains ".edu" as "student", and show the student admission item only to that type. This is a softer gate (it doesn't block non-.edu outright) but works well when combined with visibility rules.
Here are some helpful resources to assist you in setting either of these options up:

Using a Custom Process to Determine Registration Type
Thanks!

Subject: Require .edu email address for an admission item?
Is it possible to require the person registering for a certain admission item to use a .edu email address (Student Regstration)?
Thank you,
John
