  • 1.  Retrieving transactions/orders via rest API

Apologies if this is well documented, but I can't seem to find an answer to this.

We are working for a client who wants to pull data from cVent into a centralized database and combine it with other systems data for reporting purposes.  We have gone through the setup and are successfully calling the rest API to get a token and then are retrieving events, attendees, contacts, and more.

What we can't seem to locate in the API documentation is how to retrieve order information.  Our client has a report that they run from cVent that clearly provides them with transaction amounts, event, attendee name, order number, order date, order type, etc.

It looks like admissions items tie back to this in some way, but how can we retrieve the transaction/order information via the API?  We like the rest API because our plan was to use Azure Data Factory to extract the data and then process it from there.

There did seem to be some mention of transactions in the SOAP API documentation, but not rest API.  Are transactions only available in the SOAP API?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Hi Brian, when I had used API's in a previous role we worked with our Cvent Solutions Specialist to pull API reporting. Is there a reason you need to report from the API, as you can get transaction reports within Standard reporting that is outside any API.

    Hi Brian,

For REST API, transaction data is not yet available. We encourage you to Share Your Ideas and Feature Requests with Us.

Thanks.  We have a centralized data warehouse where we pull from a variety of different systems and then load to our CRM and also feed BI reporting.  The ability to perform incremental extracts and loads is what we want to do.  It sounds like we need to go down the SOAP API path to get transactions.  Darn.  Rest API was so nice and functioning in Postman :).
