We expect about 1,400 attendees.and I need to pre-print 4x3 name badges for a) 20+ specific companies for advance distribution and then b) pre-print all remaining name badges sorted A-Z for the on-site check in desk - this greatly speeds up the on-site check in process.
I am advised that I can use filters to print the a) company attendees and for b) use te advanced search to exclude the 25+ companies (plus variations in the spelling of their names) - and assuming that we can have that many filders.
It would be much simpler  and more robust to identify which Companies I have already printed by changing a status code or participant code but these are not designed to have this functionality.  E.g. use the Status codes - i.e. make a bulk selection and change status from "Accepted" to something and print the somethings and then change the somethings to "Attended".
    Has anyone found a workaround?
My alternative is to export to Excel and print singly (using vlookup formulas) or by mail merge as desired.

I've done something similar using Onarrival. I named a session 'printed' and scanned the printed badges. Then I would run a report and omit those whose where checked in to see who I still needed to print.

Another workaround maybe to create a hidden feedback field. Name it printed. Once you export your list of badges to be printed, populate the column 'printed' on your spreadsheet and import the answer into the feedback question based on confirmation number. Now the next time you run a report you will know what has already been printed.

If I'm not following, please explain it differently.

Thanks Steven, I will have a look at your suggestions. I have also asked Cvent if their developers are considering an enhanced name badge printing function to make this easier. Kind regards, Willie

The badge 'wizard' needs a make over. It doesn't have such basic features like align, bring forward, move behind. Plus it's buggy as hell when you start doing complex badges with lots of graphics.
