  • 1.  emails, opt-out, CC emails

I have about 40 of our members whose emails have been "opted out." In sending them emails to tell me if they want me to correct that, they say "yes."  Is it possible that if someone has put in a "CC" email address in the profile and that CC opts out will the entire profile be opted out?  What are some of the other reasons that this happens?
    Thanks

This is an interesting question. I never thought about a cc email possibly being on an opted-out list.

Susan this is a great question as I have registrants with this issue as well.  They are not receiving info due to opt out, yet when I speak to them, they confirm they did NOT select the opt out and ask me to change back to opt in.  Look forward to Cvent response.

I do find that a lot of my opted-out emails are because the email address is not valid. It's usually a typo. Very few of our people actually choose to opt out -  based on reports I've run.

    Hi everyone,

This is certainly an excellent topic and normally something that the Cvent Admin or a Marketing team member must responsibily monitor to ensure that contacts in your address book are current in terms of email address and opt-in/out. Many times attendees are registering quickly and certainly can make typos when entering in their email address or personal data which would result in no emails being received when they need to receive them in the moment.

The email delivery and open rates will be excellent if the global contacts being imported (manually or via integration) are accurate and vetted prior to anything being sent out. A Cvent report called Email Details will quickly inform the planner on the specific number of registrants with Opted-out emails. From there, the planner can contact them directly to confirm opt-in or trigger a request to that person to opt back in to receiving emails. This is also a good report to check whether the email address or domain was entered incorrecly.

Lastly -- I have added below a few recommended Community articles discussing Emails, Opt-in related to global Data Protection Law, and a few others. Please do keep in mind about GDPR, CCPA, and other new consumer data privacy regulations based on your event location and attending audiences.

    Best,
