I don't think it's an issue. I'm the only one familiar with cvent and usually have others scanning.
A couple issues is if someone is not registered for the event, you want to be sure the person is not click happy and checks them in.
And if someone owes money, you may want someone able to handle that.

We have used OnArrival for session check in very effectively. Main issue is covering all entry points. I think you can even lock out some functions.
