Hey Rebecca, thanks for the question! There are a lot of different options here.

A few things that work well prior to the event:
    • Launch early! You can add some on-demand videos, potentially using content from a past event as well to get more value from it. This also helps get people excited and discover things they're interested in.
    • Use pre-event surveys to gather input from attendees on what they are looking for (for example, what topics are they most interested in for round table discussions)
    • Schedule live virtual networking using Discussions, Instant Networking, or a collaborative session to get people connected prior to the event (great for virtual or onsite events)

After your event, on-demand content is the most obvious thing to think about; you can also include polls and surveys in those on-demand sessions to make them a bit more engaging for attendees who are watching on their own. You can also now feature upcoming events for attendees to discover as part of any attendee hub event.

And of course, reach out to us with any more questions or ideas!

    Thanks,

    Carl

Is there a way to add social share icons or buttons in Attendee Hub other than by adding cards (for example, it would be great to have it always in the upper right-hand corner of the page with an on/off toggle option (and maybe a white icon and black icon option).

    Hi Lori,

Thanks for the question!  As you noted, our primary recommendation at the moment is to feature social media pages within Custom Cards on the Home screen sine that screen still sees our highest usage.  As of a recent release, you can now pre-schedule these cards to appear the top of the Home screen at different times throughout the event to promote this type of navigation at the times when you feel it will be most meaningful.

There is not currently a way to place these links within the top navigation but this is great feedback that we can definitely take under consideration and discuss as a team.  For future reference, a great place to pass on this type of feedback is in the Ideas section within the Community, as our team reviews those on a weekly basis.  Thanks again!

Hey Ashley - thanks for your question! We certainly see an uptick in onsite events, but continued strong interest in virtual events. Generally speaking, most planners and marketers are pursuing a hybrid strategy that augments a historically onsite-focused program with opportunities to engage virtually. For different organizations that might simply mean running more webinars; for others it could mean making an annual conference a hybrid event. The overall trend is toward more frequent opportunities to engage, in different formats.

We are always interested in hearing from you on this topic too!

    Thanks,

    Carl

    Hello Jen,

We have found that leveraging our Instant Networking and Discussions features really helps to keep attendees engaged. One thing we love to do at Cvent is to use Instant Networking as a way for people to meet before the event so when they do attend, virtually or onsite, they have a few familiar faces around them. Discussions is also a great way to allow attendees to join a table and discuss a topic as a group. These topics are fully customizable, so you could use them as a post-session destination or as a networking hour with more open-ended topics like "Music", "Sports", and "Gaming".

    Hello Judy,

We have a ton that we're working on and we're always looking for new and interesting ways we can help make our customers' lives easier. Here are three items that are coming soon to Attendee Hub that we're very excited about.

    1. Stages - a centralized, virtual stage where attendees can see a list of upcoming sessions and join virtually. Sessions will auto-advance so your attendees no longer have to wonder where they should go next.
    2. Expo Page Banner - a place to highlight messaging or Exhibitor and Sponsor promotion on the Expo page
    3. Modernized Attendee Profile - focusing more on the person, the updated profile will display new information like pronouns, event goals, and location to better facilitate community building.
This just touches on the amazing things our teams are working on. Keep an eye out here in the Cvent Community for our regular Attendee Hub release announcements.

Great question! I think events will continue to evolve over the next few years for many event organizer and attendees. While many are anxious to get back onsite and go back to "normal", I think the last couple years have shown the impact and importance that virtual tools can provide for event organizers & attendees. I expect we'll continue to see many leverage aspects of both experiences to expand their audience reach and engagement for the foreseeable future.

How does Attendee Hub differ from Zoom Breakout Sessions? I'd like to know more about the experience of attendees joining topic-based discussions within an embedded video conferencing room with a small discussion group -- and the ease of managing the entire online session within Cvent, as opposed to using a more widely used - but 3rd party - online meeting portal.

    Hi Brianne,

Thanks for the question! The biggest difference between the topic-based discussions in Attendee Hub and breakout rooms from Zoom is that attendees can be assigned to specific Zoom breakouts. In Discussions, attendees are finding the topic they're interested in, and can join a room of their choice (or start a new one).

Of course, there are a lot of other differences - the overall branding of the experience, the ability to add other interactive content and features, etc. We love how quick and easy it is to set up Discussions in Cvent - just choose the topic and the time and you're all set. We also just introduced chat as an option for Discussions, so you can keep a topic-based conversation going prior to or after the scheduled time for live conversations.

    Thanks,

    Carl

    Hello James,

Thank you for your question. We have a few options to highlight important sessions including our Featured Sessions option. Once featured, those sessions will appear on the home page so attendees see them right when they log in.

When we look at the session list, we've really aimed to provide an attendee with a comprehensive list of sessions available to them without too much noise. If you have any ideas you'd like to share around how highlighting specific sessions on that page would help you and your attendees please submit those to our Ideas area. Our team reviews those regularly.

    Hi Colleen!

When it comes to attendees engaging and participating in Attendee Hub, we're able to capture many of those interaction points to help event organizers measure overall engagement during their events. This list of these interactions is expansive and includes activities such as session participation, networking activities and sponsorship interactions. Specific to sponsors / exhibitors at your event, Attendee Hub can collect information on how attendees interact with their booth pages & content, and event organizers have the ability to share those insights with them. All this information is very beneficial to help event organizers see what activities drove the most engagement to help make improvements for their next event!

Depending on the event, there are lots of ways to engage attendees, not just gamification! Utilizing session chat and polling is a great way to increase engagement during sessions. Providing ways for attendees to network thru instant networking, discussions, or even offering Appointments are other ways to engage your attendees.

    Hi Megan!

Attendee Hub is primarily used to drive attendee participation and engagement in your event, after they've completed registration. This is where attendees can learn and engage with sessions, speakers, attendees & sponsors etc. before, during and after an event.  The experience within Attendee Hub can be unique & dynamic depending on what your specific goals and needs are for your event. We certainly strive to provide our users with the best user experience possible, and are continuously reviewing direct feedback from the IDEAs posts to make any improvements!

    Hi Laura,

Great question!  We currently have a few different features available in Attendee Hub to facilitate this type of engagement.  Within each Virtual Session, there is Session Chat functionality where any attendee of that given session can discuss the content in real time and react to each other's posts.  Separately, we also support a 1:1 Messaging feature where attendees can privately message each other.  Lastly, we recently released our new Text Discussions feature that allows event organizers to pre-configure topic-based discussions where attendees can post in a text-based forum, or join a small video-based discussion room for further engagement.

    Hello Jorja,

This is a great question! For us, the most overlooked tool is our Engagement Score. Because Attendee Hub is truly built on the Cvent platform you have access to a ton of data that you can use to see which members of our audience are the most engaged and see which events and content are really resonating. We have templates that can be used or you can build your own score to fit your needs.

    Hi Amy,

While all the virtual meeting platform share some similarities and have differences, we love how everything in Attendee Hub works together to bring an immersive and cohesive experience to Attendees - from the overall branding of the experience to the ability to add other interactive content and features, etc. Not to mention our ability to capture many of those interaction points to help event organizers measure overall engagement during their events. Leveraging the power of the platform, everything works together to make sure attendees have a great event experience and help event organizers see where they can make improvements for their future events!

    Hello Bonnie,

This is a great question and while I don't want to get too in the weeds here I can tell you a few exciting things we have in Event App. First, our Q&A and Polling include all of the top wishlist items from CrowdCompass like upvoting and written responses. We're also adding in Text Discussions which allow attendees to chat about a shared topic of interest and a centralized Community page to give attendees a look at all of the activity happening at the event.

Hi Lindsay! There are lots of ways to engage attendees virtually in Attendee Hub depending what you are looking to offer at your event. We have found leveraging Instant Networking and Discussions before and during the event helps to make these virtual attendees feel part of the event. Discussion allows attendees to join a small group to discuss a topic together, fostering that community feeling organically.

    Hello Jenny,

This is an amazing question and an important one to ask. It definitely is a balance and we take this into consideration when we build our new features. A lot of the choices you make will be dependent on what kind of event you're hosting. I think the best way to avoid overdoing it is to set aside time for networking activities so people don't have to wonder if they should attend a breakout or join a Discussion room.

In-session engagement is always encouraged, so having Q&A set up and having a couple of polls ready goes a long way in keeping an audience's attention. Lastly, I would say go easy on the push notifications. We find that if more than a couple are sent each day people are more likely to turn off notifications.
