Does anyone use the offline payment function in a creative way that allows registrants to pay without a credit card, check, or wire transfer?

We do! We use a custom offline payment for group payments or when another party than the attendee is paying. Members will mark that their local chapter will pay, then we instruct them to pass their invoice on to the chapter presidents, You do have to manually submit payment to the individual transactions whenever you do get payment though.

As noted by one of other respondents, you can use the group payment option.

I don't recommend it, but accepting cash onsite is an option, but increases the risk of human error or misuse, but I know some organizations accept it as a payment form.

You can definitely use it, but the make sure the manual work of going in and reconciling the balances makes it worth the work. As other users have noted this would be common if you are sending out invoices or collecting payment in another form than card/check.
