Nope. All past communication emails sent to invitees already in the event, have to be sent again to the invitee added using both the options provided in the previous response.

Quick Add: Promotion & Communication >> Invitation List >> Click on Invitation List Name(if any) >> List Members >> Quick Add) then they will get all communications that have already gone out?

Hi Madeleine,
Quick Add function is one of the method of adding invitee to the event. However, there are 2 types of Quick Actions for adding invitees:
1. Quick Action - Add Invitee: Invitee Management >> Add Invitee (Community Article: Quickly Adding Invitees)
2. Quick Add: Promotion & Communication >> Invitation List >> Click on Invitation List Name(if any) >> List Members >> Quick Add
Option 1 is easy and also provides an option to send Invitation to Invitee added to the event, in one action.

You are correct, regarding these invitees not getting past communication, as system may or may not know what are the correct emails that should go out to these invitees.

Is the only way to add someone to an event to use the Quick Add function? I heard that if you add someone that way then they do not get all the past communications that have gone out. Is this correct?
