Hello Community Champions! We're here with our next edition of Tip of the Week and all set to discuss the buzzword – 'Gamification' at hybrid events!

In the events technology world, the hot topic right now is the strengthening of 'Gamification Strategy & Technology' to enhance the attendee experience at hybrid events. Since last year, we saw even more adoption of this concept where event experts tried their hands at inserting game dynamics and mechanics into non-game activities to drive the desired behavior. By now we have also realized nothing beats constant innovation whether you are introducing gamification elements to your virtual or in-person events.

With this thought in mind, we have compiled a list of 'Attendee Hub Gamification Tips' to help you drive maximum interaction between your in person and virtual audience. So, let's begin –

    • Is your 'Attendee Hub Game' strong?
      • With Attendee Hub you can create a completely customized interactive experience for your virtual, hybrid, or in-person events.
      • You have got endless opportunities to leverage Attendee Hub to drive attendee interaction! You'll have access to add an Attendee Website and Event App to any event and all your sessions, speakers, exhibitors, and attendees will automatically integrate. In addition to accessing key event information through their browser or mobile device, attendees will be able to view the live stream, simulive, and video-on-demand sessions, visit virtual exhibitor booths and interact with sponsors, exhibitors, and each other.
      • In the game, attendees are awarded points for completing tasks throughout the event. By completing the sets of tasks you've created, attendees finish challenges and earn badges. Attendees can track their progress and ranking on the Attendee Website and Event App as they all compete for the top spot.

    • Setting up the Attendee Hub Game is super easy!
      • Quick steps you can follow to begin are – Select your event > From the left-hand navigation, click Attendee Hub, then Website and App > Click Manage website and app > Click Features, then Community > Next to Game, click Set up and then click Open Game Builder.
      • Challenges & Sessions: You can choose from pre-existing templates to customize the entire game experience from scratch. Remember, you'll be able to edit the default challenges and actions and add more later. Next, decide which sessions and exhibitors you want to include in the game. All sessions and exhibitors will be included by default.
      • Badges: You can also include a badge to represent your challenge. It's important to note, the badge will appear greyed out on the Attendee Website and Event App by default and will only show in color once an attendee has completed at least one of the tasks required to earn it.
      • Points: You can assign a point value between 1 and 100. Next, you'll determine the minimum number of times an attendee must take the action to complete the challenge, as well as the maximum number of times they can do so to earn additional points. If the maximum field is left blank, attendees will be able to take the action and earn the points an unlimited number of times.
      • Monitor Attendee Progress: Once your game begins, check the game stats section to view the total players, actions completed, and challenges completed. You can also click View individual attendee scores to drill down into each attendee's progress.
      • Add and update challenges: Editing your challenges with Attendee Hub is super easy. However, once the game has started, challenges cannot be modified or created. Once you delete your game entirely, any points attendees have earned will be removed, and the game will no longer be accessible on your Attendee Website or Event App.

    • Limitless opportunities with Attendee Hub:
      • To encourage session engagement from in-person and virtual attendees, you can also explore moderated Q&A, polling, and session chat within Attendee Hub. This allows attendees to network with each other either onsite or virtually through video conferencing. Such is the power of gamification that encourages attendees to meet each other, attend sessions, engage with exhibitors and sponsors, and more!

    Questions for you:
    • Have you created 'Attendee Hub Game' for your events before? If yes, share your experience and outcome.
    • What other feature would you like to see in 'Attendee Hub Game'?

We have not used Attendee Hub yet for our events, but I'm looking forward to using it to drive engagement using gamification. In past events, we had a lot of success using CrowdCompass gamification to drive engagement and excitement among attendees.

    • Have you created 'Attendee Hub Game' for your events before? If yes, share your experience and outcome. I haven't done it through the Attendee Hub, but used the gamification through Crowd Compass and it went over like gang busters! People loved the interaction and fun element the game brought to the event. We used the Attendee Hub for our last large in-person event and did not use the game function and we got complaints about it. We'll definitely add it for future events!
    • What other feature would you like to see in 'Attendee Hub Game'? Links to virtual rewards

We have not used Attendee Hub yet for our events, but have have used a different platform and utilized gamification to drive engagement and excitement among attendees. We look forward to having the opportunity to possibly switching to AttendeeHub if the need arises for Hybrid events on our end.

We're excited to start using Attendee Hub this year for our events in the last half of the year.  We will utilize gamification for sure.  We used gamification through scavenger hunts, polls, and social wall with Crowd Compass to increase interactivity with success.
