For our next Huddle of the Week discussion, we'd like to focus on accessibility in virtual events. This is likely something you've always focused on for event registration and your mobile event apps, but hosting virtual events brings an entirely new experience to the attendee – and of course all digital.

Within the Cvent platform, our product team prioritizes accessibility and continues to make enhancements to ensure it can be accessible for all. But, we're sure there are steps you are taking aside from the product itself. Let's discuss below:

Making sure to use easily accessible platforms. We find a lot of our clients can't install software so we need easy to watch solution systems.

Making the virtual events available on-demand post event so those who couldn't make it at a specific time can still engage.
Then linking to 'like' or 'similar' webinars that may be of interest

I have seen companies within an industry reach out and want to market events. At times, these companies are using platforms that most attendees do not have or are difficult to use and maneuver through. It would be a positive move for event and emarketing teams to use tools similar to public forums. Some companys and individuals are shy about downloading and utilizing unfamilar programs. Programs that the masses are familar with and user friendly will move the event toward a successful status.

Great question! Closed captioning is the critical feature, and we point it out to attendees in case they aren't familiar with the platform. We also provide a recording post-session that allows attendees to re-watch content at their own pace/convenience.

Hi Danni, 

I''m going to take your question literally and talk about the couple of things we do to help attendees with disabilities. The first thing is to check that any image you use, if it contains information necessary for the understanding of the content, has a proper alt text setup. A second trick is to make sure that the colors you use for graphic design provide enough contrast to be read by all. You can use a little website like this to test it out: https://color.a11y.com/ 

Finally, a big one in terms of the actual event is that we are striving to provide live captioning during all of our sessions, using the system automatically built in Webex (our video conference provider) or utilizing a third-party company. Upon request, we've also provided interprets.
