  • 1.  Duplicate Headers & Footers - Recurring Issue Since 2019

    Posted 03-10-2022 02:00
    This is NOT a new idea. When I search the topic comments/posts from 2019 appear. This is obviously an issue as the request has been made numerous time, but NO action has been taken by Cvent to resolve this issue. Like one poster said, you can duplicate a page, but you can't duplicate a header and just change the wording on it. Being an event planning company, you would think Cvent would understand that event planners don't have the time to rebuild headers for new pages when the only difference is the copy on the page.

    Please consider and provide a response.

    Kind regards.

    @Tracy Kleven

    This has been updated and addressed with FLEX. We use it all the time in our events. For the summary, agenda, and pre-registration pages we use our "hero" image and for the registration pages, we use a smaller header and may add the progress bar widget depending on the number of pages added to registration.

    With that, you can have as many headers and footers as you need and assign a specific header to the default pages or when creating new pages.

    I'm attaching a screenshot of the left nav in site designer.

    Hi Tracy - I agree.  While James is correct that we can create as many headers (or pages) as we like - it's the HOW we do it - not the can we do it - that is the concern.

    It would be more efficient to be able to duplicate an existing header in its entirety as part of the creation process.  Currently in Flex you can create the header - but content within the header is created from scratch, or duplicated widget by widget from another header.

    It's the same for pages.  You can't duplicate an entire page - but you can create the page and duplicate widgets from other pages to add content.

    A less labour intensive process would be very helpful.

    Hi Tracy, thank you for this feedback! While you're correct in that this issue has been raised in the past, it's not one that has come up frequently in our customer research as a feature that needs to be prioritized over some of the other features we've been very busy developing since 2019. I understand that it's an important feature to you, and likely other customers as well, and I don't want to minimize that, but when we're developing features, we have to prioritize ones that are going to have the biggest impact to the largest number of customers.

    The most common use case we hear for headers and footers is that users want to have different headers and footers across different pages of the same website to show different content, like different sponsor or exhibitor logos. Surprisingly, having an identical header and footer across the same website is not as commonly requested as you might expect.

    With all that being said, I did raise your concern to our Technology team and they are going to look into adding this enhancement to the roadmap this year. We have a very busy roadmap with a lot of very exciting features coming out in 2022, but we will evaluate the benefits of dedicating resources to developing this feature against the cost and will make it happen if at all possible.

    Thank you again for the feedback and for being a Cvent customer!

    Hi Carisa

    To clarify, Tracy is not asking for an identical header/footer.  She is asking that the method of creation of the header be more efficient.  So being able to copy an existing header that is appropriately branded, etc - and then just changing the wording is so much easier than creating and copying each widget individually.  This is especially true as copied widgets do not maintain position on a new page - they are always added to the bottom.
