I have created a certificate and am well pleased with the results...EXCEPT the tag for the Date!  I want to add the Session date, not the Event date, but that does not seem to be an option. When I enter {[SS-START DATE]}, the date does NOT drop in.  It prints out as the tag path.  Does anyone have a work-around?  If not, PLEASE add the session date to the list of  optional tag items!

If each attendee is getting just one certificate, you can create an internal field and enter the date there.

You would not have to do it for each one. Run a report with confirmation number, first and last name. You can use that to import answers into the internal field.
