I understand, this is so frustrating sometimes for registrants. As a temporary workaround, I changed the text
Travel Preferences for
Click here to add travel preferences. Even if the fields are hidden, the word CLICK attracts the registrants' attention. It's not prefect yet, but until the fields are automatically shown, it's the best I found.

In the travel widget, the fields under travel preferences do not display without clicking a down arrow. This is a sticking point for my client, who also doesn't like this feature on the agenda, where descriptions also need the arrow clicked to display. I've brought this up to the support team. Hopefully we'll have control over these displays soon. What to do in the meantime?
